When Elvis Presley’s debut album took the charts by storm in 1956, “Blue Suede Footwear” was its opening monitor.
Now, followers have the chance to step into the King’s very personal blue suede footwear as they go up for grabs at British auction house Henry Aldridge and Son – for an estimated £100,000 to £120,000 (round $126,000 to $152,000).
The footwear, that are dimension 10 and a half and stamped with the “Nann-Bush” model, had been worn by Presley each on and off stage through the Fifties, in response to an outline on the auction site.
Presley wore the footwear whereas singing “I Need You, I Want You, I Love You” and “Hound Canine” on “The Steve Allen Present” in 1956, in response to the auctioneer, and gave them to his pal Alan Fortas in 1958, the evening earlier than leaving for the US Army.
The footwear have been authenticated by Jimmy Velvet, an in depth pal of Presley and the founding father of the Elvis Presley Museum.
The lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity hand-signed by Velvet, in addition to a letter by Fortas, which describes the occasions of the night he was given the footwear.
“The evening earlier than Elvis’ military induction right here in Memphis, Elvis had an all evening celebration at Graceland,” the letter says, in response to the public sale website.
“Afterwards we went to the Rainbow curler rink. The public sale will go stay on Friday. Bidding for the footwear, that are described as “an iconic lot of showbusiness memorabilia that merely transcends twentieth century standard tradition,” begins at £55,000 (round $69,600).
