A “biohazard” on a United Airways flight is the newest midair incident to set off an unplanned, early touchdown of a industrial aircraft.

United Airways says one passenger’s “medical problem” prompted flight 2477 to land in Virginia, the place the aircraft needed to be “deep cleaned.” FlightAware reveals the flight departing Houston on Sunday morning, then diverting to Washington Dulles Worldwide Airport about two hours into the journey. The flight was certain for Boston Logan Worldwide Airport.

Audio posted on X by Thenewarea51 captured a flight crew member describing a “biohazard” on board the flight.

“It sounds prefer it’s fairly dangerous again there,” the recording captured. “The crew is vomiting and passengers throughout are asking for masks.”

In an announcement, United says “we deep cleaned the plane and it departed for Boston later that afternoon.”

That is the newest gross incident on board a industrial flight.

Earlier this month, a Delta flight diverted to New York when spoiled food made passengers sick. In April, a United flight needed to return to San Francisco when a rest room started overflowing.
