Kansas’ state Home on Monday didn’t override Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto of a ban on gender-affirming care for minors, a consequence celebrated by transgender rights advocates.
Kelly, who vetoed SB 233 earlier this month, applauded the state Home’s vote to maintain her veto.
“I’m glad that bipartisan members of the legislature have stood agency in saying that divisive payments like Home Substitute for Senate Invoice 233 don’t have any place in Kansas. The legislature’s resolution to maintain my veto is a win for parental rights, Kansas households, and households trying to name our state house,” she stated in an announcement Monday night time.
