Joe Bonsall announces retirement from Oak Ridge Boys due to neuromuscular disorder

Joe Bonsall is leaving the legendary singing group the Oak Ridge Boys because of a well being problem.

The singer, 75, shared the news in a publish on X (previously Twitter) on Wednesday.

“Lots of you realize I’ve been battling a sluggish onset (over 4 years now) of a neuromuscular dysfunction,” he wrote. “I’m now to some extent that strolling is unattainable so I’ve mainly retired from the street. It has simply gotten too troublesome.”

Bonsall famous that “it has been an ideal 50 years and I’m grateful to all of the Oak Ridge Boys band crew and employees for the fixed love and help proven to me by way of all of it.”

“I’ll always remember and for these of you who’ve been consistently holding me up in prayer I thanks and ask so that you can carry on praying,” he added.

Bonsall defined {that a} singer named Ben James is singing within the group in his stead, writing that “his sound is completely different than mine however he brings a ton of expertise to the desk!”

“The @oakridgeboys will end the Farewell Tour with out me however relaxation assured I’m good with all of it!” he concluded. “God’s Received It!!!”

The nation and gospel quartet, initially based in 1943 out ot Tennessee, are identified for songs together with “Elvira” and “American Made.” Bonsall joined the group in 1973.
