An American airline passenger allegedly bit a feminine cabin crew member mid-flight on Tuesday, forcing an All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight certain for Seattle to return to Tokyo, an airline spokesperson mentioned.

Flight ANA 118 departed Tokyo’s Haneda Airport at 9:47 p.m. native time and circled somewhat over an hour into its journey, in line with flight-tracking web site Flightradar24.

An ANA spokesperson instructed CNN that the male passenger was detained by police after the aircraft landed within the Japanese capital. They didn’t title him.

The feminine flight attendant sustained minor accidents, the spokesperson mentioned.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Division declined to offer additional particulars on the case.

It’s not the primary case of alleged mid-air biting. In 2022, two passengers have been given hefty fines for hitting and biting crew and different passengers on separate flights with US carriers American Airways and Delta Air Traces.

They have been fined $81,950 and $77,272 respectively – the 2 largest penalties ever levied by the Federal Aviation Administration towards particular person passengers for performing out on plane.

A number of incidents have been reported this month of dangerous conduct and aggression from passengers – together with an American Airlines flight that was diverted to a Texas airport on January 3 after a passenger allegedly punched a flight attendant and assaulted at the least one police officer.
